Miracles "Chuck City" West Virginia

This week has been miraculous! We have been meeting with the Soram (Micronesian) family and things are going wonderful! Millie (11 yr old) will be baptized this week! :D She is excited and totally ready! We are tag teaming still with the sister missionaries to give the girls some good female fellowship ;P We had an awesome lesson with Derrick (Rose Soram's Brother) about commandments and faith. We read 1 Nephi 3:7 and 1 Nephi 4 with him. These scriptures show us how God will never give us a commandment that we are not able to keep. In Chapter 4 it really reveals how much effort and faith is required from us to accomplish the things which Heavenly Father want us to to do. We compared Nephi's hard task of getting the record from the evil King Laban to Derrick getting his boss to let him go to church. The spirit was strong and confirmed with him that he would be helped. The next morning Derrick took a huge step of faith and asked his boss again for the day off! This time he explained more about how he wants to follow Jesus Christ. As proof that God cares and will help us obey His commandments, Derrick got the day off and was at church yesterday! :) He loved it! His very first lesson at church was on the Law of Chastity! hahaha It was great! We gave him some of our church clothes to wear and this week we are teaching him how to tie his tie. It was the greatest feeling to have all but 1 of the family at church! :)
Another miracle we found today is a man named MOMODU! We were about to get in our car but had an impression to go talk to this man across the street walking with his headphones on. So we crossed the street and began talking to him. Momodu (pronounced- Momma Dew) is from Liberia! So we got his information after we invited him to learn and set up a time to meet with him. Yesterday we had our first lesson with him and it went wonderful! For half of it we just talked and connected with him. Momodu has had a crazy life. Growing up in Liberia during the rebellions and fighting, he was forced to be a child soldier from the ages 11-15. At age 15 he and his family fled from Liberia and are refugees here in the United States. He lived in Los Angeles from age 15 till 36. He just barely moved here from California. I am so honored to talk to this humble giant! He is an amazing person. What he told us is that he knew we were sent to him to help him find God. He is incredibly spiritual. He meditates for at least 2 hours a day to clear his mind from all the world and evil. He often does this to combat the flashbacks he gets from what he has seen in Liberia. Ebola is really bad over there now so he prays for them constantly. We left him to read a specific chapter to read in the Book of Mormon and to pray to know if it is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that anyone in this world who is sincerely looking for truth and guidance can come to know this as well. All it takes is the will to find and follow Heavenly Father's path for us.

Momodu has already taught me how much more I need to be grateful. He expressed how sad it is to him that Americans fight and argue over the smallest things. He understands how gerat freedom is because he was once in bondage forced to fight as a child. Even with all of the bad things happening today, we are blessed to live here. We are even more blessed to have the Gospel of Jesus Christ which takes freedom into eternity. Christ's atonement opens the door for eternal happiness and progression. This week I am going to have a more grateful and optimistic view on all things. I challenge all of you to do the same! Count your many blessings and you will see what God has done in your life!

Congrats on your new calling as the ward chorister, Kaylee! hahaha good luck learning those "hand signal stuff" XD Love you all! Keep striving to become who you are destined to be. Find out what God expects from you, and than do your very best to live up to it! He will help you :) Have a great week everyone!

AUGUST 25, 2014

The gathering of Israel from all four corners of the Earth is taking place here in Charleston, West Virginia! Maymerlynn (11 yr old- "Millie") was baptized yesterday after church! It was a beautiful service with many people in attendance. Millie's family were able to be there as well! I filled with so much gratitude to my Heavenly Father! He truly loves each and every one of us. There is no greater feeling than being filled with His love. Words can not explain how happy I am for them and how much I love them! We are still teaching the whole family and seeing a lot of progression in Millie's uncle, Derrick. He has come to church twice now and was there for the baptism. Derrick has been fighting an addiction to alcohol and during our last lesson with him he explained how there is beginning to be a change within his heart. We instantly read Mosiah 5:2 which says "and they all cried with one voice, saying: Yea, we believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also, we know of their surety and truth, because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no disposition (desire) to do evil, but to do good continually". Because Derrick has so much faith and he is striving to live the commandments of God, this change is happening within him. He is losing the desire to sin and in turn gaining strength to overcome the temptation to drink. He is happier every time we go over to see him. We went over last night after the baptism to talk about Millie's baptism and to teach more in depth how with Restoration of Christ's church came also the Restoration of the Priesthood. Without the Priesthood salvation could not be administered to all of God's children. They have a deeper understanding of how important and powerful it is. We also had Sister Soram, Derrick's sister who has been baptized, to share her testimony of the Priesthood. She received blessings as she prepared to be baptized. Through her faith and reliance on God's power, she overcame many obstacles. We were then privileged to give Derrick a Priesthood blessing to help him withstand the temptation to drink. Derrick is on date to be baptized on September 7th. He understands that this isn't just a be clean for a couple weeks and then go back into his old ways kind of deal. This is a sacred covenant which is is able to make with his Father in Heaven. He is committed to live the Word of Wisdom for the rest of his life. I have been praying and searching for a family like this to teach. It's humbling to know that everything that is good is coming from God. It still amazes me how I can be of such great assistance to help Him carry out His will. I know with all my heart that God lives. He sent His son Jesus Christ, our brother, as a sacrifice in our behalf. I am eternally grateful for my Savior. Through him I am made clean. I am brought back to my Father in Heaven. I know this to be true because the Holy Ghost has witnessed to me in my heart that it is. I encourage you all to pray specifically for the love of God to fill you and then ask for an opportunity to share that love with someone in need. If you sincerely want this, you will receive it :)

Honestly, I am super jealous that Jamie came down! haha I love the kids! Looks like ya'll had fun out there! Have fun at Seminary Kaylee! I'm so proud of all of you! Take some time today to step back and count your blessings. I'm happy that you guys are happy! Take Care!

Going iceskating with part of our zone again for Sister Frehner's 20th Birthday!

Oh and go to:   to see the new movie coming out about Mormons!!! haha It will bring so much light to the world about what we actually believe and how we live our lives as Christians! :)

Love Y'ins!

We just got out of our Mission Leadership Council and I only have a few minutes so I will share just a few words.

I love this work that I have been called to do. There is nothing greater than our Savior Jesus Christ. I know that He lives and loves each and every one of us. I feel His love. I will follow Him my whole life because I know that he knows me more than I do myself. Missionary work isn't the missionaries work... it isn't the members work... It is the Lord's work. But we are blessed with countless opportunities to be a part of it.

Derrick Soram is getting baptized this Sunday. All credit goes to the Lord for Derrick's growth. I've been incredibly blessed to be able to help this family come unto Christ. I can see a new light and brightness about Derrick. He has continued to stay away from drinking alcohol and he is ready to live God's commandments for the rest of his life. He has been praying to know if President Monson is a true living Prophet of God. Last week we had a lesson with Derrick inside a members home and the spirit was strong. He has received his answer and is more ready than ever to make this step. We don't want anyone to get baptized unless they know that this is the restored Church of Jesus Christ. He knows, and he's ready. He is about to join God's Kingdom on Earth. I love my family back home and out here. I feel the connection with others the more and more I grow closer to my Father in Heaven. The worth of every soul is great in the eyes of God.

Have a great week everyone! Hope all is well back home. Reach out to someone who is struggling. I promise you that you can change lives for the better.

Be strong and of good courage!
